What are my responsibilities Mr. Stelzner?

Great question!!

If you look back at the class syllabus you will find that you are responsible for all of the class material (whether you're in class or not).  If you happen to miss class for a college visit or some other kind of excused absence, that is not a problem, sincerely. However, it is your responsibility to make up the material that you missed.

Good luck with the projects and see me with any questions

Final Satire Project

Hey class

Hope all is well on the application front.  I'm sure you feel a bit relieved that the poetry essay is done.  I'm glad.  Well I don't want anyone to get too idle, it's not like it's second semester senior year yet.  A new link has been added to the link section--" Final Satire Project Rubrics"

You will find 6 different rubrics for a number of categories here-  You can choose how you want to communicate to me your understanding of satire and how satirical messages are communicated to an audience.  Some questions you may have...

Can you work in groups?  Sure why not, as long as you keep it between 2-4 people per group

Can we work with people in another class?  Yes, as long as they have Mr. Stelzner as a teacher

How long does it need to be? As long as it takes to effectively communicate the satire

What if we want to use a format that has no rubric?  Just let me know what the plan is and I'll write a new one for you

How do I know what to satirize?  Try to focus on a social, political, pop-culture, educational topic that really bothers you, makes you mad, annoys you etc....  that's always a good place to start.

What if I have no equipment?  If you decide you want to film something I have cameras, tripods and editing equipment for your use

Hey, Stelzner.... should I leave this for the last minute?  I would advise against it-- we start Catch 22 on October 16 so I would get moving on this if I were you

*YOU HAVE ALMOST A MONTH FOR THIS!!!

Have fun with it and let me know if you have any questions
